I am a sucker for unique stories and ideas. Sufficing my buds, “Yorgos Lanthimos’s” Kind of Kindness(2024) philosophies, concepts, and layers gave me an odd and unique experience.
Let us talk more about Kind of Kindness in detail-

A Philosophical Film With Deep Meaning
Written by Yorgos Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou, Kind of Kindness is a triptych absurd narrative with deeper meaning, symbolism, and metaphors.
The same set of actors play the characters in this anthology, which symbolizes that while humans may be different, we are the same at the core.
Through every story, Kind of Kindness also tries to illuminate the extreme facets of love and lust lying in the lap of control and subjugation. The elements, characters, and scenes ignite a sense of lucrative emotions in viewers’ minds to hold their attention.
Moreover, the films’ events are in the realm of surrealism, creating a bizarre and ambiguous atmosphere.
The peculiar and non-linear narrative of Kind of Kindness will make you think about stories, characters, and hidden meanings. Kind of Kindness would be kind enough to raise your dopamine level if you want to stimulate your mind. However, this movie is only for some, as you need to use your brain to understand scenes, nuances, and meaning.

A Spectacle of Jesse Plemons
Jesse Plemons received the Best Actor award for this film at the Cannes Film Festival, which was truly deserved. He is a delight to watch in the movie. His nuances towards each character make you feel what’s happening in his mind.
In a scene where his leg is fractured, you are with him, with all the emotions, pain, and suffering. I will not talk more; you need to watch him for the spectacle he is in in the film. Several scenes and dynamics of Jesse Plemons will make you in awe of him.
An Uncomfortable Watch
Like Poor Things, The Lobster, The Favourite, Dogtooth, and The Killing of Sacred Deer by Yorgos Lanthimos, Kind of Kindness floats in the ship of discomfort. A psychological horror brews subconsciously and bizarre ideas make me uncomfortable. An unsettling concussion of body horror, goriness, and abuse is present throughout the film. So, it would not be an easy ride to sail through.
Overall, Kind of Kindness is definitely in the zone of something unique and refreshing, but it may be hard to watch through peculiar exploration, and with mature themes, you may find it jarring. But I enjoyed the film and its world.
